Hockey is for all ages. You can play hockey for a club from the age of 5. Most clubs have junior competitions from Under 7 until the age of 17. You can then progress to senior competitions for Men & Women.

You basically have 3 options, depending on the timing:

1. Come N Try Days
2. Hookin2Hockey
3. Sign-up for Junior Hockey

March – September

Hookin2Hockey is Hockey Australia’s national junior program for boys and girls aged 5yrs to 10yrs old. Hookin2Hockey gives young boys and girls the opportunity to learn the basic skills of hockey, develop fundamental motor skills and make friends all while beginning their lifelong love of hockey! For more information simply contact your local club for details on how your kids can “try” Hockey through the Hookin2Hockey kids programs or FIND YOUR NEAREST HOOKIN2HOCKEY PROGRAM HERE .

To get started in hockey, all you will need is a mouth guard, shin pads, hockey stick and a ball if you want to practice at home. You can discuss where to purchase this equipment at your local association. Just Hockey is our official equipment sponsor and they will be able to help you find the most appropriate equipment.

All you have to do is contact your local hockey association. They will provide you with information and contact details for all clubs in your area. From there you can register your child with any club you choose. Find a Club

Hockey is very accommodating to all new players. The sport caters for all levels from the beginner to the elite and encourages participation, fun and development. It is a true family sport for all ages.
